INTERNATIONAL AGRICULTURE, FOOD PROCESSING AND PACKAGING EXHIBITION "CASPIAN AGRO - 2009" HELD IN BAKU

The exhibition organized with financial support of Azersun Holding, major sponsor,  was also attended by the President of Azerbaijan Republic, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

International agriculture, food processing and packaging exhibition called Caspian Agro – 2009 was held in Baku. Along with local companies, the event was joined by foreign entities, as well, where the items attributing companies’ activity profiles were put on display.  The exhibition has thus become a destination for 85 firms to display their products.  .  

President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev has also visited the exhibition. Head of the State came up to take closer look at items put on display by the Ministry of Agriculture and those delivered from Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Azerbaijan State University of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Irrigation and Water Economy OSC , Azersun Holding, and then walked around to see fair counters of Lithuania, Latvia, Italy, Israel, Syria and Belarus as well as poultry farm products and agricultural machineries. Mr. President was presented information about the exhibition, and then it was noted that the main purpose of this international exhibition was to contribute to the development of the agricultural sector.

The latest achievements, new product profiles and advances made in the agricultural business sector by Azersun Holding, major sponsor of Caspian Agro exhibition, have been subject of talks as Mr. Fevzihan Aras, General Director of Azersun group of companies delivered information to the president who had approached the company counter.  Mr. Aliyev wished Azersun holding further success in future.

Along with Azerbaijani officials, representatives of Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus, Qatar and other countries have also attended the ceremony. Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ismet Abbasov delivered a speech at the ceremony, where he noted that the exhibition would help promote export of agricultural products from Azerbaijan in coming years. Stressing the role of the government, its support and contribution to the sustainable increase of the productivity in the agricultural sector of the republic, the minister has said that the main purpose in organizing the exhibition was to demonstrate the abilities of firms and companies launched in cities and regions to diversify their business areas.

It should be noted that for the production of foodstuffs in line with ISO standards while utilizing state-of-the-art machineries, Azersun Holding procures raw materials supplied from local resources.  This of crucial importance to the development prospects of agricultural sector in the republic. The fact that many have shown interest towards and offered partnership deals with the company, regarded as catalyst for the reactivation of agricultural business in Azerbaijan, once again has indicated to the rightness of directions the company has chosen to pursue.  


The holding company products were demonstrated at the well-designed counters decorated in national colors. Products of Qavqaz cannery, the Baku Creamery, Imishli sugar mill, Zagatala nut factory, Caucasian pulp mill, Sun Tea Azerbaijan attracted attention of many attendees of the exhibition.

Olive, liquid and thick vegetable oil products, various tea brands, hygiene and sanitary papers, canned food, sugar and granulated sugar, finished nut products milled and ready for use in the confectionery industry were demonstrated at the exhibition. The holding company experts have answered the questions regarding product manufacturing at the company plants, which were asked by visitors approaching the product display counters, and delivered detailed information to the queries raised during such discourse.

The exhibition, which had lasted till September 9 of the year, was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Chamber of Commerce.
